I was better than I expected.  Seeing all the heroes on the screen should be a real treat, and the inclusion of Spidey should be even better.  Spider-Man's new costume for the film is more reminiscent of the original Ditko design, with subtle new additions.  The biggest change is the eye pieces.  They grow and decrease in size just like the original animated show did.  Very well done.  The only issue I have is how they will explain how it was achieved, either in CGI, or less likely in camera in costume effects.

Positive aspects of being an artist

Being an artist generates new ideas.
You express yourself visually in a unique way.
You work out your sensitivity in a non-aggressive manner.
Being an artist, you can make mistakes that can benefit mankind as a whole.
It can also help people see things in a new light to help them; escapism.

Picked up SW: Aftermath the other day.  Have read up to chap 5 now, and already seeing alot of subtle changes Disney is making to the formula.  Interesting read so far.

Also, have finally gotten around to installing SW: TOR online game.  Need a fellow adventurer and/or group to join.  Send a note or whatever to let me know if you're interested.

Moving on

Journal Entry: Fri Aug 28, 2015, 8:38 PM
Not moving to another planet just yet.  I will be changing my avatar soon.  At least, I think with a new name, a new cooler looking icon is the only way to go.  Most people here on dA have an abstracted, animated or synonymous image with it.
Also, not sure what to expect except something every other day, I'm sure until the Big Day of September 4th, when the world finally knows what has been going on at Disney since 2012.  Gee, I wonder what that thing could be?

Everyone enjoying their summer so far?

Been ultra hot over here, so trying my best to keep cool.  When you're having ice cubes for a snack, you know things are bad.

Was given a Coloring Dragons book, made by John Howe.  It's certainly more detailed than most of the stuff I have done so far.  He does very intricate line work, and a realistic style.  Gotten used to the mythology book drawings, so this is a welcome change of pace for me.

Thanks, Shutterfly!

I had ordered a mug from shutterfly and it arrived recently.  I really am impressed how well it turned out.  My artwork called 'Full Circle' is on full display on the mug.  I adjusted the height of the artwork, so it would not appear cropped.
Learning how to paste pics here, so far, no luck.  Will have to reread into html.  Until then, please see the finished product in my gallery.

Every artist, whether they be a writer, illustrator, singer, etc. will be denied rights to their work and will become public domain in a new bill sent to congress this week.  If you want credit for your work, and if you want to read more about it, please go to ipaorphanworks.blogspot.com/ .  The deadline is July 23.

I know I haven't been able to put up anything of late.  I know the reasons why.  I just would like to share this page I found through my facebook page.

If anyone could put a positive spin on any of those drawings, wouldn't we be doing something right?  Or has the artist gotten it wrong?

Trying to get back in the saddle again.  I drew some sketches of a T Rex.

I know this sounds weird, but I will be making a point to draw something every day now.  Whether I will be able to post it that day remains to be seen.  The intention is to get myself back out there again.

Been thinking about it for a while now.  Hopefully by the end of the year, I'll have picked one out.  It was more of a spur of the moment thing, so hopefully the next one will be better.

...a Star Wars 7 trailer is about to hit theaters?  Very excited.  Hopefully I'll be able to see it on the big screen.  If not, I'm sure it'll surface on the web soon enough.

Also, 2/3 way into A New Dawn.  Reading this while watching the Rebels show has been interesting.  At this point I am just wondering if some of the characters from the show will eventually pop up, like Chopper and Sabine, as they have not shown themselves yet.  Meanwhile, wondering about the fates of some of the characters who haven't shown up from the book, like Skelly and Zaluna.
Is it me or does Hera look like Megan Fox on the New Dawn cover?

Been away for a while.  A little R & R.  Personal reasons.

Got Guardians of the Galaxy Art book, and Star Wars: A New Dawn books yesterday.  Really looking forward to reading them.

This decision of Lucasfilm to start from scratch with the EU has every fan voicing their opinion it seems.  After the initial shock, (read some of the books, mainly the Rogue Squadron series) I know it's a sign of the times.  Marvel and DC both have revamped their titles to 'start over' as well, with their Marvel Now and New 52 series.  Disney/Lucasfilm seem to be just going the same route, making sure the new kids (at heart or otherwise) do not feel swamped with the wealth of stories.  The old books and stories will always be there and the characters that are in those stories will always be there, as long as people from my generation especially, keep it alive.  You can't undo what's already been done.  But you can make a concentrated effort to make it simpler and in some ways better.

And, what do you know, maybe there might be some artwork from yours truly coming out regarding it.  :)

Not as dramatic as I have titled it, but I have figured out that I may have, or rather, may have denied I have a mental illness.  I have seen that I look at things with a half glass empty way.  But, somehow my soul/brain/whatever/conscience/experience says this isn't so, and I try to correct it.  Knowing I have a tendency to assume the worst in any situation depresses me, and I have noticed it impact my life in a big way.  I am going to get help, as I have already called a doctor to try to help me.  It's not that I can't be happy.  It's that I know I can be happier.  Much happier.

Thank you all for listening, those that care.

I was sketching in the park today, as I have been for a few times now, since the weather here has been nice.
I have been getting comments from the passersby.  "Awesome drawing." "You have your MyPad out?"  (I chuckled and said, 'yeah'.)  "Nice sketch."  "Hey, look at the nice sketch that artist is doing."
Even a group of mothers and their kids stopped to look.

It's a nice feeling.  For a number of reasons.  One, to be accepted as an artist in your community.  Two, you feel appreciated.  Three, you also are drawing from nature.  Four, you are also letting them know who you are and STILL being accepted.  Five, well, the rewards speak for themselves.

You also find out what draws you to draw.  Ha-ha.  I drew a very convoluted tree that had grown towards the pond in a very odd manner.  Drawing the straight and narrow trees just didn't capture my interest as much.  I like a challenge, I suppose.  I've spent near two hours drawing this one tree, and am still not done.  And I intend to keep going back to it, to finally, in my mind's eye to finish it.

Just saying.
